Krishnagar, 15 August: Don Bosco Youth Centre, Krishnagar, marked the month of July and August with a vibrant celebration of the Marian Month, a tradition dedicated to honoring Our Blessed Mother. The theme, "Do Whatever He Tells You" (Jn. 2:5), guided the month-long festivities, which included spiritual activities, sports tournaments, and cultural events.
The Marian Month commenced with an inaugural address by Rev. Fr. V.T Jose sdb, the Rector of the Centre, who emphasized the significance of devotion to Our Blessed Mother. The community members expressed their affection through hymns, prayers, and various activities.
A highlight of the celebrations was the Marian Month Tournament, which featured football, basketball, volleyball, and indoor games. The competitive spirit among the boarders and staff created a thrilling atmosphere throughout the month.
To deepen their spiritual connection, the boarders took turns leading the community in prayers, organizing Rosary services, adoration services, and delivering speeches on Our Blessed Mother. A pilgrimage to Our Lady of Bandel on August 11 was a significant event, allowing the boys to seek her intercession and blessings.
Cultural events, such as drawing competitions, Marian singing competitions, and Marian skit competitions, kept the boys engaged and showcased their talents. A monthly recollection preached by Rev. Fr. Premlal Murmu, a newly ordained priest, prepared the community for the feast of the Assumption of Our Blessed Mother Mary.
The Marian Month culminated with a Bhajan service, an adoration service, and the Marian Nite 2024. On August 15, the community celebrated the feast of the Assumption of Our Blessed Mother at the Cathedral and concluded the month with a prize distribution ceremony.
As the month came to a close, the Don Bosco Youth Centre reflected on a spiritually enriching and memorable experience, reaffirming their devotion to Our Blessed Mother and the enduring message of "Do Whatever He Tells You."
