On February 5, 2012, the Salesians established their second mission presence in Lokhikul, a village in the Nagaon district within the Diocese of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. Lokhikul is predominantly inhabited by ethnic (Adivasi) communities, with an estimated 30,000 tribal people, including Oraons, Santals, Mahalis, and other smaller tribes, spread across numerous villages up to 30 kilometers away.
The Salesian mission in Lokhikul, centered around St. John Bosco Parish, focuses on youth engagement and education. They conduct oratory and youth center activities and operate a hostel for high school boys attending Don Bosco School.
Khonjanpur served as a sub-center of the Lokhikul Mission until 2017. In January 2018, the Bishop of Rajshahi declared Khonjanpur an independent parish, formed from villages previously part of Lokhikul and Beniduar parishes. By May 2018, Khonjanpur and Lokhikul were jointly established as the second Salesian community in Bangladesh, offering a variety of activities aimed at community development and spiritual growth.
