Mirik, situated on the Darjeeling side, has emerged as another pivotal Salesian hub, experiencing consistent growth since 1974 when Fr. L. Jellici initiated outreach efforts in the area. Responding to a request from Bishop Eric of Darjeeling, the Salesians acquired land in September 1980. The foundation stone for the Don Bosco building was laid and blessed by Fr. Thomas Panakezham on 15 April 1982. In 1983, Fr. G. Alakulam initiated non-formal coaching classes for school dropouts, gradually transitioning to accommodate boys from distant villages, enabling them to pursue education and fostering Salesian vocations. Under Fr. Jellici's guidance, a splendid parish church was constructed in 1995, and by 2000, the establishment attained canonical status. Currently, the parish oversees 10 substations and nurtures a thriving community.
