HISTORY

The Salesians established the Monsadah parish as their next endeavor in the region of North 24 Paraganas, West Bengal. Initially launched as a sub-station of Bongaon Parish in 1964, Monsadah saw the commencement of a boarding facility in 1969 under the guidance of Fr. Joe D'Souza. However, due to the Indo-Pakistan Bangladesh War in 1971, the boarding had to be shuttered temporarily. It was revived on 28 January 1978 and underwent expansion in 1980. Subsequently, in 1981, a girls' boarding facility was initiated in a rented accommodation, paving the way for the construction of Albert's Home in 1987. The parish church, dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, was consecrated on 4 February 1993. A Primary School, initially established in 1990, later transitioned into a Coaching Centre. In 1994, a Vocational Training Centre offering non-formal courses in typing and tailoring was introduced. Serving approximately 1,500 parishioners across five mission stations, the Monsadah parish not only provides pastoral support but also promotes social development, education, and vocational training for youth.
