The Salesians of Don Bosco arrived in Bangladesh in 2009, focusing on establishing educational centers in remote areas where quality education is scarce. They began with three centers in distant villages and later expanded to Dhaka, with Cardinal Patrick D’Rozario suggesting a plot of land in the Uttara-Dakhinkhan area. Through what they perceive as divine intervention, they acquired land for a pastoral outreach center despite financial constraints. A temporary chapel was inaugurated in 2018, and despite setbacks from Covid-19, the Catholic community remains resilient. In 2022, Don Bosco School Dhaka, Moushair, and St. John Bosco church were inaugurated, culminating in the establishment of St. John Bosco Parish Moushair, Dhaka, with Fr. Francis Alencherry as the first parish priest.
