HISTORY

About two decades after the establishment of Don Bosco Liluah, another significant educational institution representing the Salesian presence in Kolkata emerged at Park Circus. The initiative aimed to address the community's need for an English Medium School, leading to the acquisition of land on January 24, 1955. Under the supervision of Fr. Guido Colussi, construction commenced, and on January 15, 1958, the school was inaugurated. Presently, with over 3,000 students enrolled in ICSE and ISC programs, it stands as a prominent educational hub.

In 1965, Don Bosco Technical Institute (DBTI) was launched to provide vocational training to local youth, facilitating their employment opportunities. Official affiliation for the ITI was secured on June 15, 1981. Annually, approximately 280 students, mainly school dropouts and lower-middle-class youth from Kolkata and its vicinity, enroll in non-formal and job-oriented courses across 15 trades. Additionally, secretarial courses for girls and IT training for ITI students have been introduced since 2000.

In 1967, spurred by Don Bosco Past Pupils, a Night School was established to offer primary education to underprivileged children in the area, with around 500 students from K.G. to Class V currently benefiting from it. Furthermore, a free Adult Literacy Centre, managed by the Past Pupils, caters to approximately 100 girls and women in the community.
