The Salesian presence in Polsondamore commenced in 1973 when Fr. Gimenez acquired land in Polsonda to extend outreach to remote Santhal villages. While based in Berhampore, he oversaw construction efforts in Polsonda. In 1975, the Polsonda More parish, dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima, was formally separated from the Azimganj parish. The parish house and Namuncura Hostel for boys were blessed on 20 February 1977, followed by the consecration of the parish church on 2 April 1978. On 8 December 1979, the Sisters of Charity (SCCG) established a residence adjacent to the parish to assist in pastoral endeavors, particularly supporting women. A non-formal training center specializing in carpentry was established in 1981, and a tuberculosis treatment center was founded in 1984, with a dispensary added in 1985.
The Dispensary was renovated into a mini hospital named Daya Duar whose foundation stone was laid by the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee on 24 August, 2014
A new church was completed in 2003. The parish comprises 20 sub-stations, a boarding facility, and an English Medium school. A few years back it hosted the largest boarding in the Province, accommodating 400 tribal boys, while educating around 350 economically disadvantaged children in its primary school.
Additionally, the parish is actively engaged in various developmental initiatives, including educational sponsorships, village school support, and affordable housing construction. It thrives with numerous associations, including the Don Bosco Past Pupils, Our Lady of Fatima, Youth Association, Sodality for Women, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Legion of Mary.
