In their devoted service to Bengali Catholics, the Salesians expanded their reach to the Kalyani sector, nestled in the outskirts of the vibrant township of Kalyani. This endeavor began on May 24, 1979, when the area was carved out from the Ranaghat parish and entrusted to the Salesians. By 1982, the Don Bosco Vidyaniketan emerged as a hub for post-novitiate studies and the formation of Salesian Brothers within the complex. The cornerstone of their presence, an impressive St. John Bosco Church, was consecrated on March 1, 1991.
Kalyani's Christian community, comprising 668 families, extends across the central area and three satellite stations: Madanpur, Nagar Ukhra, and Narayanpur. Collaborating closely with the Sisters of Mary Immaculate and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, the parish engages in a multifaceted apostolate encompassing liturgy, Sunday school, pastoral visits, and community outreach initiatives.
Initially housing a boys' boarding facility, the parish now hosts a boarding for girls and operates a school catering to both genders from the local community. Transitioning from a Youth Center to an English Medium School on April 3, 2017, marked a significant milestone for Don Bosco Kalyani. The journey continued with the laying of the foundation stone for a new school building on November 1, 2021, culminating in its grand inauguration and blessing on January 31, 2024.
