Shortly after the Salesians arrived in Kolkata, they extended their presence into surrounding areas, engaging with Bengali language and culture. For instance, in Krishnagar, a Don Bosco institution was established in 1928, initially managing the primary school of Sts. Peter and Paul, which later evolved into a High School in 1951. In 1964, the school was formally transferred to the Salesians by Rt. Rev. Louis Morrow, the then Bishop of Krishnagar.
In 1969, Fr. Thomas Lopez initiated a workshop to equip students for employment opportunities, eventually evolving into the Don Bosco Technical School in affiliation with the NCVT, offering carpentry, mechanical, and tailoring courses. Additional ventures such as a poultry farm and agricultural farm were launched in 1972 to support boarding facilities, although they gradually declined due to a lack of trained Salesian personnel in agriculture.
Presently, the institution provides education up to Class XII, with the Technical School offering formal and non-formal trades leading to government-recognized ITI certification. It trains individuals in various skills like fitting, turning, grinding, welding, and tailoring, with computer education introduced in 2002. Facilities include a boarding house for 171 boys, an orphanage housing around 30 boys, and an Association of Past Pupils. Furthermore, since 2005, a few apostolic boys have found temporary placement here.
In 2016, Don Bosco expanded its offerings by opening an English Medium School.
