The 31 of May 1980 is a memorable day in the history of of Calcutta, as it marks the official opening of the novitiate the Province at Polsonda More, until the new novitiate building Province of is ready. Twenty-two novices start the novitiate, with Fr. Joseph Punchakunnel as their novice master.

After the construction of a suitable building, it was shifted to its permanent place in Siliguri. The official inauguration took place on June 2, 1981. 

In 2017 the novitiate was shifted from Siliguri campus to Dhajea, a sub-centre of the parish of Sonada in Darjeeling.
