Br. Ruram Johny ordained as deacon

Moushair, Dhaka - On Friday, May 15, the Salesian mission in Bangladesh celebrated a significant milestone with the ordination of Brother Ruram Johnny to the order of diaconate. The event took place at the Moushair Dhaka Branch, marking a momentous occasion in the 15-year journey of the Salesians in the country.

The ordination ceremony was graced by the presence of the Arch-bishop of Dhaka Arch-diocese, Bijoy D’Cruze OMI, who expressed his heartfelt joy and admiration for the Salesians' achievements. “Within 15 years of your mission work in Bangladesh, you have already nurtured a priest, a deacon, and 13 brothers. This is a remarkable success in your mission,” he stated, highlighting the rapid growth and dedication of the Salesian community.

The ceremony saw the attendance of 14 priests, including Fr. Sunil Kerketta, the Vice Provincial of Kolkata. The vibrant Catholic community also turned up in large numbers to witness and celebrate this joyous occasion.

The event commenced with a solemn holy mass at 10:00 am, followed by a short cultural program that showcased the rich heritage and spirit of the local community. The Don Bosco choir group captivated the audience with their melodious songs, adding to the festive atmosphere.

The celebration continued with a fellowship meal served at 1:00 pm, fostering a sense of community and shared joy among all attendees.

Brother Johnny's ordination as a deacon is a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Salesians to their mission in Bangladesh, and it stands as a beacon of hope and inspiration for the future.
