PRAYER FOR SPIRITUAL READING

L:         In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

L:         Come, Holy Spirit! Fill the hearts of your faithful,

and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created.

A:        And you shall renew the face of the earth.

            Let us pray:

A:        O God, you have instructed the hearts of your faithful,

by the light of the Holy Spirit.

Grant that through the same Holy Spirit, we may always be truly wise,

and ever rejoice in his consolation.

            Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Reading (for ten to fifteen minutes)

L:         Let us pray God, our Father, who in his

love assures us that he will hear our prayers:

you gave us Don Bosco as our Father and teacher.

A:        Grant us the grace to be, like him,

the signs and bearers of your love to the young.

L:         May your grace make our apostolate fruitful.

A:        Help us to imitate the zeal and loving- kindness of St. Francis de Sales.

L:         Arouse in many youth a generous response to your call.

A:        Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, guide into the Salesian Congregation,

many good and zealous apostles, and help them to persevere in their vocation.

L:         Comfort our brothers who are suffering,

especially those who are suffering for the faith.

A:        Free them from all their pains and sorrows.

L:         Let us remember our departed confreres.

(The Necrology can now be read, if this has not been already done in the community)

L:         Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,

A:        And let perpetual light shine upon them.

L:         May they rest in peace

A:        Amen.

A:        O Lord, you have called us to follow you

more closely and to co-operate with you in the salvation of youth,

grant us the grace to be faithful to our consecration

and mission up to the end of our life, through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
