13 June 2024, Bandel: The Education and Cultural Dimension of the Salesian Province of Kolkata, coordinated by Fr. Noby George, began a 2-day induction program for newly appointed teachers from the southern schools of the Kolkata Province today. Seventy-two teachers from eight Don Bosco schools attended the program at Don Bosco School Bandel, immersing themselves in Don Bosco’s educational philosophy under the guidance of Rev. Fr. John Parankimalil, the Secretary of the Don Bosco Education Society, New Delhi.
Throughout the program, teachers engaged in interactive sessions on Don Bosco’s preventive system of education, which prioritizes proactive guidance over punitive measures. The agenda included practical workshops, group discussions, and presentations on the life and teachings of St. John Bosco, aimed at equipping teachers with effective strategies for creating a positive learning environment and fostering mutual respect and understanding.
Participants expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to delve into Don Bosco’s pedagogy, with many looking forward to implementing these practices in their classrooms. This induction program underscored the commitment of Don Bosco Schools to providing their educators with the tools and mindset necessary to continue their tradition of educational excellence and holistic student development.
