18 May, Kolkata: In a momentous ceremony at Auxilium Church Gobra, Fr. Joseph Pauria, the Provincial of the Kolkata Province, received the final vows of Br. Praveen Tirkey, marking his Perpetual Profession and lifelong commitment to the Salesian community.
Surrounded by family, including his mother, uncle, sisters, brother-in-law, and nephew, Br. Praveen was supported by notable Salesians such as Fr. Ramesh, Fr. V.T. Jose, and Fr. E.J. Anthony. The event featured a youthful choir led by Fr. Tushar, enhancing the solemn atmosphere.
Born on December 20, 1995, in Patrachauli, Ranchi, Br. Praveen is the fifth of eight siblings. His journey began on June 10, 2014, at Don Bosco Seminary in Bandel, with his first profession on May 24, 2017. He studied philosophy in Sonada, Darjeeling, and earned a diploma in mechanical engineering in Chennai. He is currently pursuing a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering in Krishnagar while residing at Don Bosco Youth Center.
Inspired by his parish priest and family, Br. Praveen's spiritual journey has been marked by regular prayer and mass. Described as simple, helpful, and deeply religious by his batchmate Br. Sudip Mondol, Br. Praveen's commitment over the past decade culminated in this significant milestone.
The celebration continued with a Holy Eucharist, a felicitation ceremony, a performance by the youth of Auxilium, and a Sadri religious song by the Adivasi community. The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony and a fellowship meal, celebrating Br. Praveen's dedicated service to the Salesian community.
